The biggest advantage of being effective at speaking in public is that it will increase your confidence in your abilities in other forms of communication. So being successful at something like public speaking can give you the confidence you need to succeed in other situations such as:
Networking and meeting new people;
Job Interviewing, especially in situations where there are more tan one interviewer;
Interpersonal skills - winning people over to your way of thinking; and
Dealing with bullies or difficult people.
The Air Cadet League hosts an annual effective speaking contest. Cadets will compete locally on predetermined topic and the selected cadet will represent the squadron at the regional competition.
